EXPERIMENT DOSSIER

What would make the next result decisive?

A controlled passive-load comparison, complete measurement context and independent repeat preparations.

Question and primary outcome

Does the live preparation deliver additional signed energy to the same specified passive load compared with a matched organism-free blank over a predeclared interval? Record joules, duration, projected illuminated area, uncertainty and preparation identity. Do not multiply open-circuit voltage by separately measured short-circuit current.

Apparatus inventory

Before measurement, record culture identity and provenance, medium, electrode composition and history, geometry, projected area, load, instrument settings, calibration and wiring. Log illumination and electrode-adjacent temperatures. None of these unknown details is inferred from the reported first response.

Qualification and comparisons

  1. Qualify the instrument with open, short, reference and dummy-load conditions; characterize leakage and drift over the intended duration.
  2. Prepare matched live/blank pairs with equivalent electrodes, medium, illumination, load and temperature. Preserve preparation and batch IDs.
  3. Randomize channel/position assignments where feasible. Predeclare polarity, intervals and exclusion rules.
  4. Include controlled light/dark and temperature comparisons; record prior bias, charge history and possible electrode/chemical consumption.
  5. Repeat independently across preparation days. Use pilot variance to choose the confirmatory sample size rather than declaring a universal number sufficient.

Decision logic

A result advances only when instrument qualification is adequate, paired differences are larger than decision-relevant uncertainty, and independent repeat preparations support the same narrow conclusion. Confounding or inconsistent results lead to a revised experiment, not selective deletion.

Resources and access

Use owned or deliberately acquired equipment. This protocol does not assume access to a borrowed laboratory. Suitability, biological handling and waste practices depend on the actual organisms and setup and must be resolved before acquisition or use.

Current status

Protocol prepared; raw MaxwellX data and qualified apparatus records have not been supplied to this site. No experiment was performed by this software release.
